While irregular precipitation due to climate change and the gradual decrease in underground water resources are among the biggest causes of water scarcity in the world, according to UN projections, the world will face a 40 percent water scarcity in 2030.
While more than 470 million people in the world live in water scarce regions, 10 million people, especially children, die every year due to water-related epidemics.
The world’s water resources, especially potable water resources, are rapidly becoming contaminated. Irregular urbanization, overpopulation, increase in greenhouse gases and over-industrialization are making the world increasingly “thirsty”.
This has increased the demand for clean water and hence the rapid development of water treatment and recovery technologies.
